“Do you really even care?”
at this point it can go either way.
I try. I obviously succeed as well.
Brett watched her with a small smile on his face, eyes staring at the necklace he’d given her a few months back. A small token of the love he had for the girl, which of course she claimed she didn’t need, but he’d given it to her anyway. He’d always felt the need to give her everything he could. But in the end, he gave her nothing, not even himself, and he didn’t know if there was a way he could make that up to her. He bit his lip before jumping right in, “I’m sorry.” He spoke evenly, but genuinely, his hands playing with each other in front of him. “For everything. Again. I feel like I’m constantly apologizing to you.”
Placing the necklace around her neck she sighed she wasn’t complete but it sure helped glad she had it back. Brushing her hair back she sighed and sat othe counter top. “Can we stop apologising? Can we move on from apologising and just talk because right now we have said sorry to each other more in the time we’ve known each other then we ever told each other that we loved them, which is stupid because I love you more than anything and aplogising this much is just stupid so can we move on please? So I can stop talking like a crazy person” she looked at him with wide eyes begging him to stop telling her he was sorry so they could move on with the discussion not the apologies.
Brett took in a breath, watching the numbers click past on the elevator wall. An uncomfortable silence fell between them, and Brett couldn’t look over at the girl beside him; was she even considered a girl anymore? When they finally reached his floor, he grabbed his wallet, the thin silver key still tucked inside one of the compartments. Black’s was closed down while Brett was still in Pakistan, so most of his belongings were still locked inside. He’d told the developer’s that he’d come along to pick them up when he could, and he never got around to it. “Got you covered,” he said lightly, unlocking the door and walking inside to find everything unchanged, except for the lack of electricity. He let out a breath, the nostalgia nearly knocking him over. He turned back to look at Hayley, giving her a weak smile. “So,” he began, “here we are.”
Hayleys eyes lit up as she spun in the room. “I’ve missed this place. its like being home.” she said happily before realising that this wasn’t why she was back here. Then she saw it the necklace he gave her, she thought she had lost it immediately running over to snatch it up and hug it to her chest, she had cried for a week when she thought she lost it. “Wow I am acting like a child I’m sorry” she apologised. “Shall we sit? Or stand or? Wait for scotty to beam us up and make this less awkward?” she asked awkwardly as she looked at him. “I’m sorry. I thought you weren’t coming back I wouldnt have, If I had known” she burted out quickly as she stood there not knowin what else to say.
Brett nodded as his eyes roamed over the girl, trying not to notice the pale skin and steely eyes that replaced the once warm ones he’s fallen for so many months ago. He followed her lead, making his way into the building that now had white sheets covering the furniture, and dust filtering through the air. It was sad to see Black’s in this state, but obviously it couldn’t have been in business forever. Someone was bound to find out about it’s corruption sooner or later. Biting his lip, Brett moved to the elevator, dinging the up button with a small smile of surprise that it was still working. “For old times sake,” he smiled as he moved into the compartment, and pressed the button for his old floor. Third from the top.
Hayley was determined to keep herself distanced from him and then he smiled.Smiling back at him she toyed with her fingers as they went up to his for, his, their old apartment. “Old times sake.” she nodded as they went up in the elevator, she couldnt wait to get out of the cramped space. “You got a key or shall I work my magic” she asked tapping her pocket that housed her lockpick. Brushing her hair back she licked her lips realising she missed the way he made her now still heart beat out of her chest. Damn him she never thought she would regret this till he turned back up.
The canvas was covered in dark images, filled with detailed. The blonde slowly was finishing until he heard the knocking. Quickly, he put the supplies down and walked over. Nobody was there when he opened the door. When the scent of perfume filled the air, he turned his head to a woman strolling across the walkway. At thought he decided to follow after her.
Hayley wasn’t stupid she felt him start to follow her the second he left the building she was just waiting to see just what he did. No-one was around to see him following her which was rather annoying but life goes on. turning a corner she stopped and leant against the lamp post “Stalking is illegal ya know”
Brett was more confused than he’d been in a while. Yesterday he’d left Hayley’s work without many answers. Her boss had come along and shuffled them out of the freezer and him out of the restaurant before they had time to fully discuss things. So yes, this little talk was much needed. Hands tucked in the pockets of his leather jacket, Brett made his way to the building that used to be his escape and his home simultaneously. Eyes settling on the small girl who was hunched in front of the lock, Brett shook his head, walking up behind her. “I see your criminal ways haven’t changed,” he noted.
Hayley Jumped when he came up behind her. Heightened senses her fucking ass. “Believe it or not hardly anything has, excpet my body temperature. Besides This is like my key, I sleep here sometimes.” she shrugged pushing open the door. “Shall we?” she asked as she stepped inside heels echoing on the cold floor. Blacks was home to both of them at one point neither had an advantage here and no-one could interrupt them.
Hayley walked nervously across the sidewalk until she came to a stop in front of the tall building she once called home. Pulling out a lock pick set she set to work on the lock before she waited. Brett said he would show and she needed to prove to him she was still her, just a little colder skinned.
“I’m on duty. If the situation were different, I would let you address me as Anakin.”

“Miss Hayley. I am Anakin Marek. Mr. Marek, if you please.”
wow you’re formal.
